Dear Colleagues,
After 15 years with the Internet Society (12 years as President & CEO) I made the decision to leave at the conclusion of my contract when it expires February 1, 2014.
Having just celebrated our 20th anniversary, I could not be more proud of all that the organization has achieved. In the face of so many challenges (including our own tremendous growth) we all maintained an unwavering focus on our principles, values, and our mission.
ISOC is in a very good position. We are strong financially; we have extremely knowledgeable and well-respected staff, Members and Chapters; and a highly engaged Board. We continue to strengthen the Internet Society's position as a leader and advocate effectively globally and locally on behalf of an open, global Internet. It is because I am so confident that the Internet Society is well positioned for the future that I decided to take this step.
I recognize this is an important transition for ISOC. Hence, I am giving a full year's notice, and I will be fully engaged in advancing the Internet Society’s mission during this transition phase.
The ISOC Board will engage a search company in the coming months. The search will be led by the Board, and I will work closely with them to ensure a seamless transition. In the meantime, I will be fully dedicated to ISOC and to our collective success, so please expect this of me, and count on it.
My time at ISOC has been extremely exciting and rewarding (from my very first day), and I expect it will be right up to my last day.
But that is nearly a year away. In the meantime, it is a critical time for the Internet. We all need to ensure we are focused on our Mission and are well aligned.
I very much look forward to continuing our important work together over the coming year, and thank you for your continued support.
Best regards,
Lynn
